I dunno, for whatever reason Sonic has that rabid following. That comic from Archie has been going on for like 15 years! That's insane for a video game license! I'm guessing it's people who grew up with Sonic and just refuse to let go, but who knows... the way I see it, they should just be happy there are Sonic games at all, and that Sega even gives a crap about what they want to see.
I remember spending 1998 to 2008 basically waiting for Capcom remember that the classic MegaMan franchise existed, while countless spinoffs and reinterpretations came out yearly, some good, some not so good. Sonic fans have had a steady stream of games to hate ever since the Dreamcast, and NOW they're getting up in arms? Crazy.

They're pissed off because it's Sonic 4: Episode 1. I don't know why, though. Frankly, I'm amazed that anyone actually gives a shit about Sonic anymore. You don't see these feelings of... personal betrayal as I see it for Crash Bandicoot. When a new Crash Bandicoot comes out, the reaction is, "Yeah, I liked the first three and that racing game, but it sucks now. Who cares?" Why Sonic?

Speaking of Sonic 4, what the hell is wrong with Sonic fans? They're BOYCOTTING Sonic 4. When did gamers become such babies? There has literally been 30 seconds of footage! Its sickening to watch developers jump through hoops to try to please the modern consumer.

All I know is, if this was called Sonic the Hedgehog 4, I would have been satisfied.

Although I'm not entirely sure why the internet at large arbitrarily decided to love this game, it is pretty fun. A surprising change of pace from Adult Swim's usual selection, which are usually a good deal more crass. Also gets mad points for actually making something cool with rainbows!

As of this current writing, 4chan's /v/ has been altered to play the song and vomit rainbows all over the place, so you know this game is going places.
