Well, his motivations are noble, even if his task is somewhat less than heroic. Go get’em, tiger!
With this page we will take a brief leave of Zan Onigiri and Johnny Matchead, and explore this new locale a bit more thoroughly. Next update on Saturday, like usual.
Has anyone ever played that old Ninja Turtles game for the NES? The not so good one? When I was a kid, I could never get through the second stage, with the underwater bomb defusing. Lately I’ve been giving it another go, and I’ve been steadily gaining ground in the game… all for nothing. Despite beating the 3rd, 4th and 5th levels, which I never even knew existed, it would seem that the 6th stage, inside the technodrome, is simply impossible. Even with 99 of the strongest weapon equipped to EVERY TURTLE, the enemies in the last stage are just too powerful. Very disheartening…
I’ve often thought of the action scenes in this game as being comparable to Castlevania. The turtles move very similarly to the pokey Belmonts of old, the level structures look a bit alike, and there are even subweapons to equip. Technically, with the overworld sections, exploration, and multiple characters, Ninja Turtles is even a slightly more deep, complex game than the earlier Castlevanias, even if these elements are poorly executed. In fact, without the Turtles branding, you could have fooled me into thinking this was a sequel to Simon’s Quest! Even more interesting is that this game is actually more difficult than any Castlevania game I’ve ever played, even going as far as to allow only two game overs. Insanity.
On the bright side, the music reminds me of MegaMan Battlenetwork, which is ALWAYS good.

Melody should randomly pop up on EVERY page

You do seem to love exposing Johnny’s midsection.
ION · 3 October 09 · 04:59:42 AM
I dare not change these things. They come from above, you know…
matchead · 4 October 09 · 12:32:11 PM
Wait!? What comes from above? Are you saying that… “The All Knowing” told you to show off Johnny’s midsection?
Emdf · 5 October 09 · 10:37:03 AM
For some reason, when I first read that I read “Melody” instead of “Johnny” and got really confused…
In all fairness, I do believe that this is the ONLY time his midriff has been exposed within the pages of the comic, so I’m not really sure what that accusation was based on.
matchead · 5 October 09 · 02:31:04 PM
I’m not surprised that you originally read “Melody” instead of “Johnny,” considering she’s such a midriff-showing ho.
linkolas · 5 October 09 · 05:50:34 PM
I suppose you’re right, not in this comic. But in previous comics and other drawings… I dunno, the image in that first panel just seemed familiar.
ION · 5 October 09 · 08:09:57 PM
Ain’t nothing wrong with that. But where’s Johnny’s abs, man? Dude needs to do some sit-ups.
RWill · 5 October 09 · 10:43:19 PM
He can do side bends or sit-ups, but better not lose that butt
linkolas · 6 October 09 · 09:40:28 AM
I must say, it really amazes me how we seem to get waaaay more comments when I leave a page up longer than I should…
matchead · 7 October 09 · 12:45:20 AM
…But doesn’t that seem logical? If I see the same page a few times, I’m more likely to comment on it.
RWill · 7 October 09 · 01:35:37 AM
Basically, this is our way of saying
PUT A NEW PAGE UP ALREADY
